Andrew Ferren was fortunate to be born into a musical family. His home was filled with music of all types from classical to folk, jazz to rock and roll, much performed by his relatives. At age 9 he started taking piano lessons but by 10 years of age he felt the saxophone as his true calling. Andrew started his professional career when he was 15 and has continued playing in various professional settings since. Andrew recently graduated from the New School University earning his B.F.A. in jazz and contemporary music. There he had the opportunity to study with some of the world's greatest musicians and masters while playing with some of the best young talent on the sphere we call earth. Doctor Oscillator came from this talent. And this place: New York City. A common path was agreed upon at first meeting. "Where that path leads, nobody knows for certain. But it's damn fine to go down that road with these boys!" Andrew's composing has taken a new twist as of late with the creation of new graphic compositions integrating the concept of sampling with live improvisation. Dragonfish is a large ensemble comprised once again by some of the brightest luminaries on the planet. Look out in the future for Alpharay Sound Labs, Andrew's production company.
